Spirit Temple rules for IL runs

Having mirror shield without entering the dungeon is technically possible, but do those 2 chests count as part of the dungeon?
This effects 100% runs as well
Are you allowed to already have the mirror shield?

We already decided that you must start in the 1st room of the dungeon. There are no rules against leaving the dungeon, so:
If you already have requiem (by walking in and leaving) this makes taking the magic bean to get up to the mirror shield chest pretty fast by skipping the cutscene.
Are you allowed to already have the requiem?

-Please vote on what you think makes sense in relation to the other dungeons, not what would result in the coolest looking runs or w/e

Another important thing: If you already know the song through RBA, does the song learning cutscene play at all? If it does NOT play, then you are DEFINITELY allowed to have it in advance.

I'm for simplifying everything as:

You can not have gathered anything from directly outside Spirit Temple. This instead of listing what you can and can't have collected. Would include Nayru's Love, and bombing the wall to NL. Another wording could be : Directly outside Spirit temple must be 'untouched', left as it was at the start of the game...

It's far simpler!

Voted for no gaunts/shield and can have requim. i did so because:

<Blizzerk> i voted for requim can be obtained
<Blizzerk> because it will just be a pain
<Blizzerk> it doesn't make you obtain anything inside the dungeon

PRO MIRROR SHIELD:

Having the mirror shield early is like having hammer on B for fire temple, it is using glitches to get needed items before ever attempting the dungeon.

CON MIRROR SHIELD:

The mirror shield counts as part of the dungeon the same way the final bombs chest in the DC boss room counts as part of the dungeon. Both are necessary for 100% (and thus you cannot start with mirror shield in any% or 100%)

I think you cannot obtain mirror shield or gauntlets because they are part of the dungeon items. And you can obtain reguiem because you can get that with RBA too, so I think this is the best rules for this dungeon.

Mirror shield and gauntlets are 100% part of the dungeon.

The run will be alot quicker if we get the mirror shield. But it will also take more talent if you do get the mirror shield.

It's more entertaining to actually get mirror shield and silver gauntlets. It's not much of an IL if you use a dungeon item before going in the dungeon (which is why I don't think getting the dungeon item on B (like fire temple) should be allowed, even if it can be done before ever entering.

As for requiem, you shouldn't have that either, but Kazooie said it can be BA'd, so I voted ok. Because otherwise it wouldn't be the first time entering the dungeon. Although I guess that makes me a hypocrite. Well after thinking about it more, I say no. (I voted choice 2, but I change my vote to choice 1). It's more authentic a run without the requim + it's weird to see half an IL take place outside the temple.

I think "Mirror shield + Silver Gauntlets CANNOT be obtained in advance, but you CAN have requiem" is legit. I mean when we do forest temple we don't have time start when we get minuet. The warp song is not technically part of the dung, plus you could learn it using RBA anyways without entering the dung a single time so I say having it is legit whether you entered and exited or not. As long as the dung itself remains unchanged. Also the 2 chests are the key items obtained in the dung, I'd say they are pretty damn important. Those are the big dung items. No different than Boomerang in Jabu, slingshot in Deku, or anything else for that matter.

I believe this explanation combined with the landslide poll results make Choice 2 the obvious solution. Thanks for voting, all :)

I agree with the poll results, but I feel that IF getting the Requiem CUTSCENE (not the song itself) cannot be skipped with any method that doesn't involve entering the dungeon and exiting through the main entrance, then the cutscene MUST PLAY if it's suppose to play.

But if it turns out that having the Requiem beforehand skips the cutscene when walking out through the main entrance (or some other method), then the cutscene can be skipped.

The rules have already been decided so I guess this point is moot, but what are you guys talking about when you say you can RBA the Requiem?

It's the second-least significant bit (binary 2, 00000010) in the byte, which is impossible to affect with RBA outside of halfmilk.  Halfmilk requires byte value 26 (00011010), which means you would already have to have the Requiem legit anyway.  Unless the current limits of RBA are broken, you can't EVER get the Requiem without entering Spirit.

This just recently occurred to me...what would be the rule on having the Mirror shield chest be dropped outside of the temple? You never enter the temple and never get it...just that it's already fallen.

Sigh... spirit temple is so dumb. I suppose this would fall under the category of "changing something in the dungeon" if we consider those ledges as "in the dungeon," so I guess it would not be allowed.

Sounds good. If it's not allowed then it adds an extra superslide too, which is always good for entertainment/a challenge.  :)
