Segmented Any% Discussion

Encoding the video any differently than before? I'd sure thats whats causing it...

I don't think so, but it's worth a check. Would this be something I should check my convertor for?

No, I mean when you take the video from the recorder. You turn the .vob or whatever files into somethink like .mp4 .avi and the like. See if you changed anything in that step...

I checked, everything is the same as always. I'm almost certain it's a problem with YT, so i'm not gunna upload anymore. I'll still play though.

Make LQ torrents of new segments? Upload LQ .mp4 encodes to some ZSR folder? I mean, you got some super complex segments for about the rest of the run, soon...

LQ torrent just means torrenting the segments in low quality. As for hosting it on ZSR, MrGrunz is hosting his TAS WIP here as well, so I dont think there's any rules against it :P

Make a page in the TWW section on ZSR for your speedrun, and embed all the vids into it :)

It can bascially be YOUR page for your comments and the videos and put whatever else you want there.

If you aren't that good with HTML I can basically set it up for you tonight and then editting it should be relatively straightforward

using the ftp you can access, download, edit, then reupload the page to from and to this location:

i'm uploading your first segment and embedding it so you can see how it works (by looking at the code on the phazonany.php page)
put your videos in this folder (in .mp4 or .flv format, either is good)
/site/speedruns/tww/phazon/

example location: /site/speedruns/tww/phazon/WWSR1.mp4

put all your videos in that folder and copy the embed code from the phazonany.php page, just change the needed things

everything else should be easy, simple, intuitive formatting

The video doesnt seem to work for segment 1, which is kinda odd. Sound does, not video.

Interesting point. My WFI-DRI segs are 49 seconds faster than my old ones. Granted I forgot to change the wind to south and was probably a little faster on DRI, but i'd say atleast 30 seconds were saved, which leads me to believe GS savewarping could save a lot more than 4 minutes, which I originally thought was the maximum time it would save.

On another note, can I do my segments out of order? For example can I finish segment 11 as if I speedran it, record segment 12, then record segment 11 another time?

I'm pretty sure that falls under the lines of redoing segments, which you can do at any time as long as you keep the consistency with it (Rupees, magic meter, etc)

Although I think it'd be bad if you uploaded the later segment before the earlier one :P

Thank you Cosmo :), I'm pretty proud of it myself. It was one of the only times I was able to do it in one sitting without major interruptions other than bathroom breaks. If I can improve it by atleast 20 more minutes, then I'll be ready to start recording for ZSR and SDA :D

Well, do keep in mind you savewarped, although how often or how much time you were saving I don't know. But yeah, goods hit.

I ended up losing all the time saved from savewarping just from fucking up ice ring the 1st time. It was so dumb. But yeah, alot of stuff still needs to be worked on. Good stuff never the less. I'll be practicing more once I get my Recorder and my Mystical Ninja runs are over and done with

I'm doing a Wind Waker Speed Run, you can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/user/MarcusSDA I got a WR for this game almost 2 years ago but no videos excist of it anymore and that's one of the reasons I'm doing a new run. My time was about 6:10:00 but it had wrong timing back then, I counted the intro in the time. I started the time when the screen appeared after selecting Quest Log and stoped the time when I pressed ''Continue Playing? No'' The time with that timing was 6:17:23, so 6:10:00 or something was what I really got, right?
Now I'm going to try to get a sub 6h because there were some timesaver I didn't know about but it'll still be hard to sub.

Marcus, I timed my Fire Trial method to be 5 seconds faster, not including the fact that you don't need to equip your Grapple Hook. I'll see if I can get a vid.

No I can't. Whatever, here's what you do:

- Roll left, pick up a water pot and throw it in the lava in front of you.
- Grab another water pot and jump down to the platform you just made.
- Throw the water pot in the lava jet, jump on and wait for it to go up.
- Deku leaf to the last grapple point and let go to grab the edge.
- Deku leaf to the end and roll to the door.

Make a video of it if you want, it's pretty easy to do.

Better route for Ganon's Castle, using Marcus' new trial strats. There's always enough magic and it's in convenient places. It also leaves you with enough for 2 light arrows for Phantom Ganon, although you only need 1.

-Deku Leaf over to Wind trial
-Deku Leaf to ledge infront of spikes
-Get hit by Wizrobe and run through the spikes
-Continue normally and beat Molgera
-Start Fire trial
-Throw water pot onto lava on left
-Grab another water pot and throw it onto lava jet
-Deku Leaf to last grapple post
-Deku Leaf to door and two-cycle Gohma
-Start Earth trial
-Grab pot on left and run up stairs.
[Collect big magic from 2nd left coffin]
-Drop pot and open the first 2 coffins on the left.
[Collect big magic from 1st left coffin]
-Run to the light and turn the Chu into stone.
-Roll to button and hookshot chu towards you.
-Pick up the jar and place it on the last button.
-Beat Jalhalla
-Start Forest trial and roll to the edge
-Deku Leaf to the first vine platform on the right
-When the platform rises Deku Leaf to the next platform on the right
