I haven't seen this specific glitch before, but I've seen similar bugs with different game flags persisting even after a non bit reset. One thing that comes to mind is a very old, lesser known glitch in the forest temple where resetting during the monkey collecting portion of the forest temple allows you to transfer them to a second save.

Thats pretty cool haven't heard of that before.

The monkey trick sounds cool. Is that Long Jump to the Boss Door do-able yet? If not that monkey thing could have use to whoever would run the Forest Temple.

I'm not really good at explaning so I'll leave it up to you.
There's not many places you could do this but if you do it on the loading zone of Hyrule Field, you end up in the ranch when you are about to goat herd. You can also get to the intro but it's like if you just resetted.

i started a new run with the infinite bomb/arrow glitch, did BiT and saw i had bomblings. i checked on the guide and it said you couldn't get them on a new file. i just wanted to post this to say you CAN get them :)

General Trick Discussion

I'm gonna merge this there in a day. But anyway, I never read anything about bomblings not working for bit arrow + bombs. If you are referring to the ZSR page, I believe the reason bomblings aren't mentioned is that they are for the most part incredibly useless.

Cool, when I was testing that after I found the glitch I couldn't get bomblings to work. I'll edit that. Nice job.

Also, what bomb bags did you have/ in what bag(s) were the bomblings in?

Merging topics, MZX? You've sunk to a new low.

You can ban people, kick people in IRC, or even edit other people's posts and profiles.

But when you start merging topics, THAT'S CROSSING THE FUCKING LINE.

:P

Movement speeds: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=314123#314123

Not sure how useful this will be, but i figured i'd post it anyway. The only thing that seems like it could matter at all in real time is the wolf dash speed. In certain areas (? still not sure if that's it, but i guess it makes sense that they'd move faster in bigger areas than in smaller ones) it is only very, very slightly faster than rolling, so it wouldn't make sense to switch to wolf for running around. Though i'd guess that the only time you'd even consider switching to wolf just to run faster, you would indeed be getting the 45 move speed, so who knows? Might need to test every area to be sure...

Also, always press A as soon as possible when rolling.

Re: General Trick Discussion

Just wanted to point out that Parax told me that it's slightly faster to accelerate fully before rolling instead of rolling from a standstill (similar thing in TWW except it's much less obvious in TP).

Did you not read the page he linked?

Re: General Trick Discussion

I did read it, but I didn't quite understand what it meant (I'm not very good with frames). His second post cleared that up a lot though.

Re: General Trick Discussion

I added some more damage values i'm interested in on the tasvideos thread. Also, what are you using to view the memory in dolphin? Are you using MHS and just converting the big endian/little endian values?

Cheat engine. MHS is a lot nicer to deal with normally, but lack of big endian support makes it almost useless.

Okay, thanks. I'll give it a whirl.

And while i'm at it, anyone have any ideas for other stuff that should be tested?

try to see why lanaryu gate clip/gate clips in general are luck based and try to see if you can manipulate goat rng

Gate clips aren't luck based, just affected by so many factors that they seem luck based in real time. I've tested this with savestates. Rog did some testing with goats, you can read his results on the TAS thread.

EDIT: Okay, I went back and double checked the gate clip thing and it seems to change every few frames. So my original assumption was wrong because i only tested a few frames, bleh.

Re: General Trick Discussion

Yeah, gates in TP have an RNG in them that determines which direction they'll swing when you roll into them. It has nothing to do with how you roll into them; you can roll into a gate and have it swing TOWARD you, as ridiculous as that is.

I actually didn't test how luck affected them at all. I didn't even realize it did. After testing it some, i still don't see any affect from luck. I just started a brand new game, played through to goats, and they started in exactly the same position, facing exactly the same direction as when i tased it. Running around beforehand, and even attacking the goats makes no difference.

I can try seeing if my goat herding from before will sync if i hex it in to be 100% sure, but it does not appear to be random at all.

Just hexed in the goat herding, and it synced. It's definitely not affected by luck at all.

Re: General Trick Discussion

So I guess goats are just so precise and affected by so many factors that they seem luck based then.

Re: General Trick Discussion

#175
Indeed. Moving the joystick even slightly off, or pressing A a frame early/late can completely change their paths.

Re: General Trick Discussion

#176
geez <_< I could've sworn they started off facing different directions each time, but I just compared a few runs and you appear to be right. Not sure how I never realized that.

Re: General Trick Discussion

#177
Unless i'm retarded, damage and speed values should all be complete now.

Iron boots totally do more damage than ordon sword jump slash.

Re: General Trick Discussion

#178
Out of curiosity, do we have a value for Epona sliding? I didn't see one in that TASVideos link, but maybe I just missed it.

Also, is there a speed difference when you have both inactive magic armor and iron boots equipped?

Re: General Trick Discussion

#179
Epona slide is still 73 speed.

Magic armor with no rupees gives you exactly the same speed as iron boots, even if you're also wearing iron boots.

Has anyone tried clipping with Eponaslide? You probably have, but I'm just wondering.
