It's now possible to skip the bean and the hookshot. The only downside is that it's TAS only and even then it's hard. No video evidence but I'm sure they'll be in the next 2-3 days. The only way to theoretically improve the route now is to get the odd mushroom in the Fortress which isn't possible.

EDIT: video up

In before MP16 and pokey post a video of that non-tas.

I'm working on it, almost got it I think.

on a more serious note, if we can get child link to fall faster for 1 frame, or bypass the ejection routine for 1 frame we would have BOTW chus w/o ZL

:(

I have an idea:

Why not kill the Skulltula, then use the "Walk while talking" glitch with Navi and the crawlspace and make your way to the other crawlspace. The water might not be loaded...

Navi doesn't talk to you when you're inside.

Navi doesn't talk to you when you're inside.

Perhaps the Ruto Bottle or something similar would work as a substitute for Navi?

Re: OoT / MQ Trick Research & Discovery Thread

Ruto bottle is an item and items can't be used right after exiting a crawlspace unless of course you activate some text.

Re: OoT / MQ Trick Research & Discovery Thread

that reminds of how in MM as Zora Link if you jumpslash against a wall and hold B, you go through the entire wall for exactly 1 frame, so you can't do anything to stay in before you get ejected out.

That is some awesome stuff you guys have there! Great job with this Klydestorm!! I can't really wait to try this out! This door thing happened me once long time ago but didn't know it could lead something like this ;D

Awesome stuff with this klyde! Keep up to good work!

That's pretty amazing.

What does this actually change on the route though, if anything?  I need to pay more attention to that sort of stuff >_>

Re: OoT / MQ Trick Research & Discovery Thread

not sure if the TAS any% route will change, but basically every other route likely will

the any%ss route is now amazing and cool

Have fun! ^_^

This is amazing.

Also some stuff from me:

A few days ago I was testing the new any% SS route.  After failing the chuslide to Shadow about a million times, I just started goofing off in the graveyard.  I picked up the rock, started to catch some bugs with the cucco bottle, but did the "quick bottle" trick to dupe over my Deku Nuts (I had 0).  After that, I tried doing the milk drinking from an empty bottle trick.  Link did the drinking animation but he never gained any hearts back.  I even tried moving the bugs to a different bottle (I also duped over Deku Sticks so I had 3 bottles), but no matter how I arranged it he didn't gain hearts.  Another oddity was whenever I was in the air, I could hit the C button for the bugs bottle and the empty bottle in my hand would turn blue (full)... but only until I hit the ground.  Once I hit the ground it looked empty again.

And not sure if this is old or not, but I managed to make it over the Gerudo Valley gate (the Cucco Jump one) with a chu megaflip a couple times today.  Tried to record it but I only made it those 2 times (out of nearly 150 attempts), so no video.

I have never seen the fascination with 100% speedruns, especially in OoT. I mean, a good speedrun couldn't be more fun, considering that you don't have to do any adult/child temples--no damn water temple  ;D--. It seems like BA & RBA have solved all the big problems of making a good OoT speedrun thanks to Kazooie. I completed my RBA speedrun of the game last year & it went very smoothly. If it's any help, RBAing the poacher's saw gives zelda's lullaby, along with some other warp songs, which is the only way, so far, to get great fairy upgrades. :)

If everyone just did RBA runs around here we'd all go insane from boredom. It's a very bare-minimum way to play OoT and lacks what is best about OoT, dungeons. I like RBA a lot but I could never just soley focus on it, which is why we have races and IL's with odd goals and stuff so we can experience every scenario in the game. 100% and MST rocks!

I respect what you're saying here, yes, OoT does have some awesome dungeons. I don't soley focus on RBA, but it's a big part of my experiments. I'm not the best speedruner in the world, but I'm certainly not the worst. I leave IL & those type of runs to people like Kazooie, though I do have a fascination with running the Stone Tower Temple in MM. ;D
